Under the influence of Darwin Friday, July 10 at 2009, West Road Concert Hall, CambridgeLife Laughs Onward: Charles Darwin, Poetry and Music Part of the University of Cambridge Darwin Festival Susan Gritton (soprano), Ian Burnside (piano) and Ruth Padel (poet and great great grandaughter of Darwin) in a recital exploring what Darwin's work seems to have liberated among composers and poets in a post-Darwinian age; how to make sense of beauty and nature, and how his ideas may have affected our understanding of music now. Music will include Handel, Schubert, Finzi and Vaughan Williams (Darwin's great nephew). Ruth Padel will read from her latest book, Darwin: A Life in Poems. For more, click here.
