Clarinet concerto on original instrument

This month sees the Clarinet Concerto played in Teddington on 18th June, using the same model of clarinet as it was originally played on. Says clarinettist Tony Lamb “I feel a a particular affinity for this piece, because it was first played by Frederick Thurston, one of whose pupils was my own teacher, Sidney Fell. Both of them played on Boosey & Hawkes ‘1010’ clarinets – a model which I also use, unlike most other players today.”
