Five Bagatelles – by candelight

Finzi’s Five Bagatelles will be performed at the Chobham Festival in Surrey, as part of an ‘English Music by Candlelight’ concert on Tuesday, September 27. The venue is St Lawrence’s Church.

Clarinet concerto on original instrument

This month sees the Clarinet Concerto played in Teddington on 18th June, using the same model of clarinet as it was originally played on. Says clarinettist Tony Lamb “I feel a a particular affinity for this piece, because it was first played by Frederick Thurston, one of whose pupils was my own teacher, Sidney Fell.

Finzi in Munich

The choir “Vox nova” plans a cappella concerts entitled “The English Sound” with Finzi’s Seven Unaccompanied Part Songs and pieces from Stanford, Vaughan-Williams, Holst and Elgar. The concerts we be on July 23rd, at 8pm, in Munich’s St. Bonifaz centre, and on July 24th, at 8pm, in Munich Kulturetage Riem.

Eclogue in Minnesota

This month sees a performance of Eclogue for Piano and String Orchestra at the University of Minnesota. The Morris Chamber Orchestra, with pianist Kate Bae, will perform on 29th February at 7.30pm. Says Director of Orchestra Alexander Corbett “We look forward to performing this beautiful piece”.

Clarinet Concerto in Slovenia
